See traffic from ChatGPT, Claude, and other AI assistants

People are discovering sites through ChatGPT, Claude, Perplexity, and other assistants — then clicking through. That traffic is real and valuable, but it usually gets buried as a random referrer host or lost next to crawler noise.
OpenRevenue now surfaces it clearly: Sources → AI groups human visits from the major assistants so you can see which ones send readers (and, with revenue connected, which ones pay).
Human referrals, not bots
This is orthogonal to bot tracking. When an assistant crawls your pages, that still lands in bot analytics. When a person clicks a citation or shared link and opens your site in a browser, that pageview is a normal event — and we label the assistant it came from.
You get both views without polluting either: bots stay out of visitors and revenue; AI referrals stay in the human funnel where they belong.
What we recognize today
- ChatGPT (chatgpt.com, chat.openai.com)
- Claude
- Perplexity
- Gemini
- Microsoft Copilot
- Grok
- DeepSeek, You.com, Poe, Meta AI, and Muse
Matching uses the document referrer host, plus common utm_source values when assistants or campaigns stamp them. We’ll keep extending the list as new products show up in real traffic.

Frequently asked questions
Is this the same as bot / crawler traffic?
No. AI referrals are real people who clicked a link inside an assistant and landed on your site. Bot crawls (GPTBot, ClaudeBot, and similar) are tracked separately under bot analytics and never mix into normal pageviews.
Which assistants are recognized?
ChatGPT, Claude, Perplexity, Gemini, Copilot, Grok, DeepSeek, You.com, Poe, Meta AI, and Muse — matched from the browser referrer or known utm_source values.
Do I need to change my tracking script?
No. Keep the OpenRevenue script installed as usual. New visits are classified automatically; older aggregates refresh as period caches rebuild.
Where do I see it in the dashboard?
Open a project → Sources → AI. You’ll see a breakdown by assistant alongside your usual referrers, links, and campaigns.
